We live on a “ship,” not a boat -- ships have boats but not vice versa.
There's a “bow” and “stern,” not a front or back. The ship has “decks,” not floors.
The cardinal directions are forward and aft; port and starboard.
We sleep in “cabins” (not rooms).
We have dinner at 1800, not 6 pm, and our evening seminar is over by 2000. I’m usually sound asleep by 2200.
Islands have a windward and a leeward side.
We’ll sail from the Trades to the Westerlies (twice!).
Let’s go on a voyage, not a cruise!
Aargh!
